Science of Learning

TD: The Art and Science of Motivation and Behavior Change

Speaker: Julie Dirksen

We ask a lot of our learners. Typically, we want them to block out all their daily distractions to focus on our learning materials. Then we want them to allocate all their effort to new skills and behaviors. So what are the underlying motivation principles that guide our behavior, and how can we apply those principles to learning and development? The fields of behavioral economics, neuroscience, and persuasive technology give us some clues as to how we make these decisions and what design solutions we can employ. In this webcast, you'll: -Learn how to identify and understand the barriers to behavior change. -Examine research-based methods to design solutions that don't just inform learners, but inspire behavior change. -Use specific models and techniques for designing a change effort.
