Virtual Learning Works: A Global Women in Tech Case Study

From the TechKnowledge 2016 Conference: What makes virtual learning successful? What are the best ways to scale it globally? How can tech companies better attract, develop, and retain female talent? This session uses a case study of a yearlong program aimed at boosting women in management at SAP to answer these questions. In 2013, SAP launched LEAP (Leadership Excellence Acceleration Program), an award-winning development program for high-potential women seeking new or more-senior management roles. Created with a $0 budget and run almost entirely virtually, LEAP provides a robust formal and informal online curriculum that is supplemented by sophisticated social learning, such as small group meetings and cloud-based interaction and information sharing. The program also includes virtual job shadowing, career planning, meetings with recruiters, bi-directional mentoring, executive sponsorship, and headshots. The 2013 North America pilot was so successful that LEAP is now global, influencing hundreds of women around the world. Learn how your company can leverage virtual learning to 'crack the code' on gender diversity, facilitate true career growth, build game-changing participant camaraderie, and generate measurable results on a global scale. No prerequisites, but familiarity with virtual learning, global virtual learning, and leadership development for women will be helpful.
