Toolbox Tip: Design Accessible In-Person Events

Speaker: Haley Shust

In this video, Haley Shust shares recommendations to make in-person events accessible for all participants. Shust reviews potential conditions that may require accommodations including various disabilities and medical conditions. Shust outlines examples of accommodations to provide, such as closed captioning, color contrast slides, and adjustable desk or table heights. Shust also provides three best practices for creating accessible events, which include sharing a “What to Expect” document with participants before the event, offering a way for participants to request accommodations, and preparing speakers and facilitators on disability inclusion.
